A pair of beautifully-rendered serpents in gilt brass and turquoise glass coil around this antique buckle, a find so fantastic, we were giddy at the discovery (part of a large collection of buckles acquired by one of our favorite flea market dealers!) Suspended at the front of faceted jasper beads - glamorous nuggets of eggplant and mustard hues - that mix and mingle with Indian brass and turquoise beads, the buckle serves as a symbol of protection and strength. (Additionally, the purist in us couldn't bring ourselves to remove the buckles' central swiveling bracket element, not only because it is marked by the maker, but also because it is so incredibly constructed, only adding to the buckle's spectacular beauty.) A gilt hook clasp completes the look at back, measuring 19.5" in length
